High Adventure Awards
What are they?
High Adventure Awards are given to recognize that the bearer has met a set of
unique requirements for a specific High Adventure activity, such as backpacking
in a certain area, or climbing a certain peak. Most awards are in the form of
patches, which are worn with pride by recipients to show that they have met the
unique challenges of High Adventure.
What are the requirements?
Complete requirements for each of the individual awards are given in "Trek Aid 100". There are a set of General Requirements which apply to all awards,
and lists of the requirements unique to each award. A hard-copy printed version
of Trek Aid 100 is
available for purchase which includes an image of each patch.
How do you get them?
Short answer: get trained, do the activity, turn in the application.
Prior approval is not necessary, but almost all awards require the
participation of an adult leader who has completed High
Adventure Leader training. Awards are only available to units meeting all
requirements for the given award, as evidenced by a completed High Adventure Award Form application.
No awards will be presented without a correctly completed application.
