Water Trek Training
|Water Trek Retraining in June|
|The June 2021 Water Trek training will be offered only for retraining, due to Covid restrictions and YAC availability.|
The Wednesday 6/2 evening classroom session will be via Zoom.
The water training will be only Saturday 6/5 in the morning.
The prerequisites for First Aid/CPR will be waived for the June session only.
Current Safe Swim Defense and Safety Afloat will be required; both are available online.
The cost will be $10.00 for this retraining session.

This 15-hour course prepares unit leaders to operate on flat and moving water.
Leaders completing Sessions I, II, and IV receive a patch and numbered card.
A trained adult with a current registration card must accompany units on all
water outings for the unit to earn High Adventure Awards.
All Water Trek specific classes, known collectively as "Session IV",
are held at the Fiesta Island Youth Aquatic Center on Mission Bay

Water Trek Session IV weekend sessions cover:
- Introduction to Canoeing
- Canoeing Safety
- Planning a Water Trek
- Rules and Procedures for use on the river.
- parts of the paddle and canoe
- Canoe Handling:
- basic canoeing strokes
- solo and tandem practice
- Canoe rescue
Leaders must renew their Water Trek card every four
years by repeating the first two meetings of Session IV.
